The Risks of Cosmetic Lip Surgery
Cosmetic lip surgery may seem like a harmless procedure but it comes with many risks. Going into such a life-changing experience, you may as well look at these risks much like costs. After all, you are actually spending more than just your hard-earned dollar if you avail of cosmetic lip surgery.
The Tangible Cost
Of course, it goes without saying that the real cost involves the money that you will be spending when you are getting cosmetic lip surgery. There are many medicines and pre-operation as well as post-operation procedures that you will end up spending a lot of money on. This goes without saying that if you do hit a snag during the operation, you will have to spend for all the other procedures that will correct it (i.e. a botched surgery that leaves a scar on your face). As a form of plastic surgery, cosmetic lip surgery can involve the use of silicone and other necessary items such as injections and clinic facilities. All in all, the actual cost of the whole operation would probably set you back at least $5000.
The Physical Cost
More than money, you will have to do a little physical spending as well. Remember that you cannot just walk into a clinic and expect that the doctor enhance or reduce your lips immediately. Cosmetic lip surgery will require you to be at a certain health level so that you can go through the actual procedure to avoid any complications as much as possible. A surgeon or physician will most probably advise you on what kind of diet and exercise routine you should be following for a set amount of time before surgery. The other cost you have to consider is that you risk damage to your own lips. This is a risk that you must be willing to take if you really are considering cosmetic lip surgery. You basically are spending a physical amount of your skin being damaged, as it is cut and scraped for lip reduction or if fats from other parts of your body are taken and injected into your lips.
The Emotional Cost
The most important thing to consider is the emotional cost that you may be spending when it comes to cosmetic lip surgery. By going through this procedure, you are going through a life-changing experience. After the surgery, you will be transformed as a person because you will look different and may therefore act differently. Whether the change is positive or negative really depends on the results of the cosmetic lip surgery. You can probably become a better and more approachable person with your new enhanced lips. But it can also be negative if the surgery is not successful. You may lose a lot of important self-esteem and confidence and go on a downward spiral of depression. This is the emotional cost that you will be risking if you get into this and any physically transforming surgery.
Keep in mind that the costs for cosmetic lip surgery are more than just about money. Think of the risks and the many things that you will have to spend (including time) just trying to get better-looking lips.
